The club's nickname is “Squirrels of Saitama“, it was chosen by the company NTT, as reflection of their company culture : " Squirrels are nice outsiders, quick,skillful and good workers“.

The club was founded 1969 as “NTT Kanto“, a company team of the tele communication brand NTT.

Renamed to Omiya Ardija on 4^th December,1998.

Omiya is situated near to Tokio in Omiya,Saitama.

Getting relegated in 2014, playing 2015 in the second league, getting up again and finishing with a strong 5^th place. So,the last season was a major success for the club.
